With the help of the local Mission to Seamen, Sailors Society based in Surabaya, local union branch of KPI, and the ITF, the seafarers have been provided with the essential food, water, items of personal hygiene, and fuel on humanitarian basis. The situation with the legal status of the ship remains unclear. There are reports that the vessel was sold to a local agent so that it may be sold again to another willing buyer. A few prospective buyers allegedly appear to have abandoned the ship purchase for either too high asking price or for a dubious legal ownership of the vessel. No response received from the agent nor the local Prosecution Office.
This case is now marked as "disputed".

The new vessel, ‘SHI XING’ with IMO Number 9047726 is Flag: UNKNOWN, before 1 June 2024 so at the time of the abandonment: Togo.

Togolese Maritime Administration confirmed the vessel was cancelled from their register on 25th June 2024
Vessel detained by the local Authorities in Indonesia since 22nd February 2024 for missing port clearance, crew spent 5 months in a detention centre, now staying on the ship. Shipowner is not contactable. Crew says the ship was recently sold, but no confirmation of new owner name / contact details yet received from a local agent / authorities.
