The 2 seafarers received their outstanding wages and were repatriated.

26 February 2025: Türkiye

According to the latest information received from Yalova Regional Port Authority regarding the status of the vessel ‘GEMINI’, it was reported that;
• the vessel in issue is currently at the Yalova shipyard located in Yalova Shipyards Region for maintenance and repair.
• on 17 February 2025, a meeting was held at the Yalova Regional Port Authority office with the PSCO coordinator of the Port Authority, the master, the DPA and the ship operator company representatives.
• as a result of the inspection of the documents, contracts and receipts presented by the ship operator company representatives at the mentioned meeting, it was concluded that the salaries of the personnel subject to the complaint were paid and there was no problem.

I hope this letter finds you well. I write to you regarding the electronic communication dated 05 February 2025, informing me about the abandonment case Gemini, Bahamas flag, reported by the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF). In this case, 309 crew members of different nationalities, including 3 Salvadorans, have filed a complaint for two months or more of unpaid salary.
I would like to thank you for the information provided and at the same time inform you that the Coast Guards of El Salvador have not received any complaints from Salvadoran seafarers. In addition, the Maritime Authority has contacted the Republic of Bahamas regarding this situation, expressing that at this time, they do not have further information.
