Awaiting confirmation of payment by operator for 8 Indian crew who have gone silent due to intimidation by the operator – crew no longer in contact. Other affected crew have done a deal with the operator and no longer want our assistance

According to the latest information received from Tuzla Regional Port Authority regarding the status of the vessel ‘MISTER YUNIS’, it was reported that;
• the vessel in issue is currently at the Astaş shipyard located in Tuzla Shipyards Region for maintenance and repair.
• On 10 February 2025, the officer in charge of Tuzla Regional Port Authority boarded the ship and carried out an inspection.
• During the meeting with the captain and the personnel of the ship; it was declared that there was no problem, that the salary receivables of the crew were agreed with the shipowner representative, that the salary wages of the existing personnel would be paid as their contracts would expire and then the ship would be manned with new crew and that they had no complaints.
• We will continue monitoring the mentioned issues.
17 February 2025: Myanmar

We have received a vessel abandonment report concerning the Bulk Carrier vessel Mister Yunis (IMO No. 9327126) under flag of Comoros. According to the report, the vessel was abandoned by the ship owner at Tuzla, Turkiye on 1st October 2024. There are one seafarer onboard from Myanmar who have outstanding wages of 5 months. But it was verified that the vessel was not officially registered for sending Myanmar seafarer in my department. To proceed with the necessary actions and provide assistance to the affected seafarer, we require detailed information about the Myanmar crew member, including his name, passport number, and Seafarer Identification and Record Book (SIRB) number. Unfortunately, the information we currently have is incomplete. We kindly request your assistance in providing the required information from the IMO records. Your prompt response will greatly aid us in addressing this urgent matter and ensuring the welfare of the stranded seafarers.

5 months owed for 8 ratings, 3 months for 2nd Engineer, 2 months for Chief Engineer. Also Bosun, Oiler and two wipers seaman’s books have been damaged. 5 crew over contract and one crew request to go home due to family medical issue ignored. Dubious manning of vessel as 3 trainee ratings onboard.
