15 June 2025: International Transport Workers' Federation
The seafarer was repatriated with his outstanding wages. St Kitts & Nevis flag state paid his repatriation costs from Beirut to Syria. The ITF is concerned that the shipowner put negative remarks on the seafarer seaman book in retaliation and punishment for making an MLC complaint. This is not permitted under the MLC. Resolved.
21 February 2025: International Transport Workers' Federation
The seafarer was paid in full and repatriated. However, he was repatriated to Beirut and not Syria, He had to pay for his own transport from Beirut to Syria. He reported that his Seaman book was stamped “Bad Behaviour” after raising his MLC complaint for outstanding wages and repatriation.
