Further to my previous message, IMO received this morning the attached confirmation from the S & P Global, who are keeping the IMO GISIS and EQUASIS ship registers, concerning the general cargo ship ‘JETMAX 2’, IMO Number 9006447, that the vessel has been registered in Comoros on 13 January 2025 with the new name: BURHAN C. As was already notified on 14 April 2025 there are on board 8 seafarers from India with 3 months of outstanding wages and a lack of fresh water on board, they were abandoned in Sinop, Türkiye on 1 March 2025. The insurer is UNKNOWN.
I would like to recall that on 24 April 2024 the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) of India kindly requested that the list of Indian seafarers who were onboard the vessel ‘JETMAX 2’ is provided to them at the earliest convenience, so that the Directorate can take the necessary actions.
Therefore, I would to kindly reiterate my earlier request to the flag State Comoros, in particular to National Agency of Maritime Affairs (ANAM) of Comoros, included in this message, to provide the requested information to India.

With reference to your emails dated 14 APRIL 2025 regarding the abandonment of the vessel ‘JETMAX 2’ (9006447) it has come to our attention that there is no available data on Indian seafarers working on board this vessel in the E-Gov system of DGS.
2. In light of this, it is challenging to examine the matter further without the details of Indian seafarers currently working on board the vessels. Therefore, we kindly request you to provide the necessary details of the Indian seafarers to help resolve this issue.

The new vessel is the following general cargo ship ‘JETMAX 2’, IMO Number 9006447, Flag on IMO GISIS: UNKNOWN, before November 2024: Vanuatu, on EQUASIS the vessel has been registered in Comoros on 13 January 2025 with the new name: BURHAN C, having on board 8 seafarers from India with 3 months of outstanding wages and a lack of fresh water on board, they were abandoned in Sinop, Türkiye on 1 March 2025. The insurer is UNKNOWN – Please refer the attached 2nd report of abandonment concerning the same vessel which was already on 1 November 2024 notified to be abandoned with another crew from India onboard when it was registered in Vanuatu.

Previous crew on this vessel had reported the same issues as the current crew.
Previous crew received their wages with huge efforts from ITF
The company changed the name of the ship to Burhan C.
The previous flag was Vanuatu, and due to failure to pay the previous crew's wages, Vanuatu deleted the ship from its flag register after the previous crew wages were paid.
The agency informed that there were 2 court decisions on the ship due to other creditors' receivables and that it was banned from sailing, one of them was paid and the other would be paid in a few days and then the ship would enter the shipyard. The crew does not want to take the ship to the shipyard without their wages.
