Owed wages paid for March and April and two Indonesian seafarers have been repatriated. There are still six seafarers who are owed wages for May and June and waiting for repatriation.

The Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia has received the below information yesterday. According to the information from the Maritime Sea Administration of Latvia, the situation with the vessel is unclear. According to the database the vessel is actively functioning and recently has been in Romania, Ukraine and currently is on its way to Turkey.
Also, due to incomplete information, we cannot verify the identity of the Latvian national seafarer.

We are aware of this case and Skuld is following up with further enquiries.
Skuld has advised me that the Club has not received a MLC claim or a request for repatriation directly from the crew although ITF has provided information to the club. Of course, this presents delays in the process because it is difficult for clubs to estimate the precise amount that crew are entitled to without sight of seafarer contracts. I know that ITF colleagues encourage seafarers to contact the P&I club in cases of abandonment, but it would help enormously if seafarers could contact the issuer of the financial security certificates as soon as practicable, and provide relevant information, as this would certainly expedite matters.
However, Skuld has now received proof that seafarer wages for February were received by crew and wages for March were sent on the 8th of May (ITF has also confirmed that the March payment has been received by the crew). Skuld has been informed by the insured person that wages for April will be paid on May 20th. Moreover, Skuld’s claims team is actively following up this case to ensure that remaining outstanding wages are paid in full and repatriation is provided for those seafarers that require it. Skuld is also making enquiries with the insured to understand the reason for the delays in payments to seafarers. I will report further information in due course if it is required.
In the meantime, I hope this information is helpful and perhaps ITF colleagues could kindly confirm the payments to seafarers have been remitted, as per the above comments.
