(From the IMMARBE)
We acknowledge receipt of your correspondence regarding the Greta (9234422) and confirm that the Belize Administration recognizes this matter as a formal case of abandonment under Maritime Labour Convention (MLC, 2006) Standard A2.5.2, as wages have remained unpaid for more than two months and repatriation arrangements have not been made.
Please find below a summary of the timeline and actions taken by this Administration since the initial report:
Chronology of Events and Actions (see the section of Actions taken)
The Belize Administration continues to coordinate closely with the ITF and the Cuban authorities to ensure that the welfare of the seafarers is protected. The vessel remains under Prohibition of Sailing Notice, and the case will not be closed until:
1. All outstanding wages are paid in full;
2. All crew members requesting disembarkation are repatriated; and
3. Verified documentation of these actions is submitted to the Administration.
We will continue to provide the IMO with updates as new developments occur.
