In reference to the abandonment of the S.A.AGULHAS, IMO No: 7628136 I have contacted the West of England P&I and have the following to report:
There is no active MLC Financial Security on this vessel from West. It was previously entered but the policy was terminated and notice provided to Flag in the usual way for termination of MLC financial security.
All Crew Members that met the abandonment criteria under the MLC when the financial security was active have been paid and repatriated directly by the Club. If there are any seafarers remaining onboard their claims will have materialised after the period of financial security ended. West’s name should therefore be removed from the financial security line.
The vessel is currently under arrest by various creditors and news articles confirm that a judicial sale has been sought.
I kindly request that the information is reported onto the database. We also request that West is removed as the financial security provider.

Regarding the cases below please note that the for the ship S.A. AGULHAS Equasis states the flag as Antigua and Barbuda – thereby in agreement with the details you provided. However, GISIS states Germany, South Africa and Antigua and Barbuda as the flag all effective 2025-06.
We have received further clarification from S&P Global regarding the flag as below:
“The vessel was originally registered under Germany flag and immediately bareboat chartered out to South Africa in Jan 2024.
In June 2025 vessel came back to Germany flag and was deleted same date.
On same date in June 2025 vessel was registered under Antigua & Barbuda flag and exact same date was bareboat chartered out again to South Africa.
It will therefore still show 3 flags with the same date with the vessel currently flying South Africa flag.”

Owner verbally committed to pay the crew, however wages are still unpaid, and the last supply of provisions was a few months back, the owners plan to sell the ship (bareboat charter and re-hire the old crew) P&I paid the moths of July and August 2025, still outstanding September and October 2025
