(From the Italian Permanent Mission to the IMO)

The ship M/V Master Nasser is currently docked at the Port of La Spezia, Italy.
Following a period of abandonment monitored by the Italian authorities and the ITF since October 2025, we are pleased to report that the repatriation of all 11 crew members was successfully completed on April 17, 2026. This operation was made possible through the joint financial and logistical efforts of the local Seafarers' Welfare Committee and the ITF, in full compliance with the 2014 amendments to the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC, 2006).
Regarding the current status of the vessel, we wish to bring the following critical points to your attention:
• Stateless Status: The vessel was officially struck from the Comoros registry on April 9, 2026, and currently flies no sovereign flag.
• Operational Condition: The ship has been in a "blackout" state since April 11, 2026. While the departing crew performed essential safety securing (closing valves and sea chests), the vessel remains unmanned.
• Safety Risk: The Italian Coast Guard has formally ordered the shipowner to urgently re-man the vessel to mitigate environmental risks and potential hazards to port infrastructure, specifically the ongoing construction of the La Spezia cruise terminal.
We remain at your disposal for further technical details or legal updates as the situation evolves.

24 April 2026: International Maritime Organisation
Flag: UNKNOWN, however on IMO GISIS before 1 April 2026: Comoros

23 April 2026: International Maritime Organisation
For the ship MASTER NASSER (IMO number 9396256) the flag is listed below as Comoros but for Equasis and GISIS it is unknown.

The reason given for the flag listed as “Unknown” is as below:
“I can confirm we did show this vessel as registered under Comoros flag until we received the message from Comoros dated 9th April advising us that it had been de-registered from their flag. Hence reason we are recording as Unknown flag.”
