From the IMMARBE
The Belize Administration has received a further communication from the crew of M/V GSP FALCON (IMO 8324579), providing additional information concerning their continued presence onboard and the circumstances surrounding their resignations.
According to the information received, all crew members submitted their resignations, with the applicable notice period reportedly expiring on 24 March 2026. The crew further states that, at the Company's request, they agreed to remain onboard in order to ensure the safe operation of the vessel and to allow sufficient time for relief arrangements to be made.
The crew additionally alleges that, on or about 3 June 2026, the Company requested that they extend their service for a further period of approximately one to one and a half months on the understanding that:
• Wages would be paid up to 15 May 2026;
• All outstanding wages would subsequently be brought fully up to date; and
• The entire crew would be repatriated no later than 15 July 2026.
The crew advises that, while wages were reportedly paid up to 15 May 2026, the remaining commitments have not been fulfilled. They further allege that, as of today, outstanding wages now exceed two months for several crew members and that no repatriation arrangements or relief plan have been communicated.
When considered together with the previous allegations regarding the deterioration of onboard living conditions, these matters raise serious concerns regarding the Company's compliance with its obligations under the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006, including those relating to the payment of wages, repatriation, crew welfare, and the potential application of the abandonment provisions under Regulation 2.5 and Standard A2.5.2.
Accordingly, the Administration requires the Company to provide, within twenty-four (24) hours of receipt of this correspondence:
1. Its response to the crew's account of the agreements reached regarding the extension of their service onboard;
2. Confirmation of the current status of all outstanding wage payments, together with documentary evidence;
3. A detailed repatriation and crew relief plan, including proposed travel dates;
4. Confirmation of the measures being taken to ensure the health, safety, welfare, and accommodation of the crew while they remain onboard;
5. Any additional information the Company considers relevant to the Administration's assessment of this matter.
Please be advised that the Administration is treating this matter as a priority. Failure to provide a satisfactory response and evidence of immediate corrective action may result in further action in accordance with the applicable requirements of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006, and other relevant international obligations.
