Greetings from the Tuvalu Ship Registry.
Our Administration has identified an unresolved crew abandonment case concerning M/V ELARA (IMO No. 9309148) in the joint IMO/ILO Database as per attached.
According to the database, the case involving 15 Turkish seafarers was reported to the Flag Administration on 2 June 2026. As of 9 June 2026, their repatriation and outstanding wages amounting to approximately USD 68,000 remained pending.
Please be advised that the vessel’s registration under the Tuvalu flag was closed on 19 June 2026. Consequently, the Administration now has limited authority to compel the former owner to take action.
As the reported case arose while the vessel was registered under the Tuvalu flag, we will notify the former owner and the applicable MLC financial security provider/P&I insurer, request urgent settlement of the outstanding matters and follow up accordingly.
In view of the above, we would appreciate IMO/ILO’s guidance on any further action required from the Tuvalu Ship Registry. If an ITF inspector or other representative is handling this case, kindly provide their name and email address to facilitate direct coordination.
