please see below the information submitted by the Local Maritime Authority in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on the situation of the General Cargo Ship ‘Grona Kestrel’, IMO Number 9381811, Flag: Marshall Islands, having on board 15 seafarers from Azerbaijan (1), Philippines (8), Russian Federation (1), and Ukraine (5) who are abandoned in Las Palmas, Spain on 1 July 2026. There are outstanding wages of 2 months. The insurer is: Noord Nederlandsche P & I Club - refer the attached second report concerning the same vessel which was recently on 5 June 2026 also notified having on board 15 seafarers from Azerbaijan (1), Philippines (8), Russian Federation (1), and Ukraine (5) who were also abandoned in Las Palmas, Spain on 1 March 2026.
• According to local ITF office, General Cargo Ship ‘Grona Kestrel’ was declared abandoned in June and the wages were paid. It was again declared abandoned in mid-July by the ITF due to outstanding wages for May and June.
• Today in contact again with the local ITF office, they confirmed that just yesterday they repatriated the seafarers, paid the outstanding wages and brought in a new crew.
• ITF will report back to IMO to update the situation of this abandonment case.
