Please note that I have updated the vessel to reflect name GOLDUN SUN under the flag of Tanzania (Zanzibar) effective December 2025.
This is based on the Tokyo MoU PSC Inspections carried out 15th February 2026, 26th and 30th March 2026.
These updates will reflect on the IMO GISIS module in due course (24 hours).

I herewith would like to invite ITF who initially reported the new abandonment case to respond to the request. I herewith would like to kindly reiterate my earlier request to S & P Global who is maintaining the IMO GISIS module, for an update on the status of the vessel.
24 August 2026: Myanmar

With reference to the trailing email, it is noted that six Myanmar seafarers are on the Vessel Genesis 168 (IMO No. 8990172) which was abandoned in Busan, South Korea, on 30th June 2026.
During our investigation, we noted that these Myanmar Seafarers were deployed by SRPS company registered with the Department. The SRPS company confirmed that the shipowner sold the vessel, the Myanmar seafarers were paid their full wages, and they arrived back in Myanmar on 7th August 2026.
Therefore, we would like to express our gratitude to you for notifying the Department regarding this abandonment case.

I herewith would like to confirm that the IMO focal point for Zanzibar (United Republic of Tanzania) was included in the list of addressees of the notification of this new abandonment case since the vessel was initially reported under this flag register. I herewith also would like to kindly request Mr. *** at S & P Global who is maintaining the IMO GISIS module for an update on the status of the vessel.
All received information will be duly recorded on the joint IMO/ILO database on abandonment of seafarers.

We acknowledge receipt of your below e-mail which is well noted.
In this regard, please be informed that we would like to know how we can assist in this case considering that IMO GISIS reflects that the vessel since December 2025 is flying unknow flag and before that the flag of Sierra Leone; therefore, we are wondering our involvement in this case and the reason why it will be attributed to us.
Also, I would like to highlight a previous case back in December 2025 under another flag State confirming this transfer from our registry as properly recorded in the ILO/IMO Joint Database on Abandonment of Seafarers.

Your email about new abandonment case (Genesis 168, IMO: 8990172) has been well received and processed.
China notes that the Maritime Safety Administration of China（MSA）has not verified any seafarer deployment records for the vessel in China, nor are there any registered Seafarer Recruitment and Placement Service for the vessel in China. China therefore requests that the relevant parties verify and provide specific information concerning these Chinese seafarers, including ship crew list, so that China may take further action to verify whether these Chinese seafarers are owed wages.
Should there be any developments, we will keep you informed promptly.

Wages are for Myanmar crew, no information for Chinese crew. Vessel is due to be sold for scrap, and the wages will be settled once the vessel is sold. The vessel was detained by Korean PSC on July 14th.
