Circumstances

It was abandoned by owner who claimed a bankruptcy 3 months ago, when freighter was docked in Luanda, Angola. Vessel ran out of supplies, 4 of the crew returned to Turkey with the help of Turkey Consulate, the rest including the captain decided to take vessel to nearest European port. Vessel left Luanda on August 18 and reached Las Palmas, Canary Islands, but was rejected entrance on the grounds of not having an appointed agent. Muezzinoglu is drifting 12 miles off Las Palmas in international waters pleading Turkish authorities to interfere and help the distressed vessel. Crew is feeding off fishing, electric engineer was electrocuted and needs hospitalization, situation seems to be quite desperate. Manager BESERLER DENIZCILIK.
