Circumstances

Vessel detained by MCA on multiple issues including unpaid wages, some for 3 months, some part paid. No fresh food on board, the local chaplain has stocked the ship from the local food bank. Wages below ILO minima.

Dear ***

Re. Reggae, all the abandoned crew were paid and repatriated except for the Chief Engineer who transferred to one of the other vessels – presumably Tahsin. There are now 4 Turkish replacement crew on board the Reggae, the rest of the crew (Indian) were stopped at the boarder at sent back. Class have told the (Turkish) owner that they won’t issue new certificates until there’s a full crew on board. The Immigration authorities won’t allow non-EU crew to join for fear of a repeat situation.

I’m waiting for the other inspector to call me back re. Tahsin.
