Circumstances
Vessel abandoned in the shipyard. The crew had already hired a lawyer back in Oct 2015 and arrested the vessel. There was no request to ITF for assistance therefore no in depth paperwork/research.
In view of the available information, the notification date has been set to 14 June 2018. (ILO, 8 April 2025)
Updates
18 June 2018: Liberia
(From the Liberian Registry)
We confirm the vessel MARIA L (Ex ANASTACIA K), IMO Number 9153496, registered in Liberia on 16 Feb 2017. The vessel was sold at auction held at Varna, Bulgaria, prior to registration in Liberia. The Liberia Administration has no information concerning the abandonment case on the ANASTACIA K.
The MARIA L is currently operated by SKY SHIPPING AGENCY in Greece, and there are no MLC related issues with the vessel.
Considering this information, it would seem appropriate to remove Liberia from the “Flag” section of the Report.

In fact we understand the case is now concluded, though it would appear that the crew did not receive all the money they were due, so I think it should be classified ‘disputed’. We were not asked by the crew for assistance so we have not been actively involved in the case.
I’ve checked the registration details with our inspector who advises that at the time of the abandonment the flag was Malta.
