Circumstances
Vessel operating in the Bering Sea and remains at sea
Filipino members of crew have not been paid since July 2018; have been denied medical treatment; have been denied food; are regularly working excessive hours; are working in unsafe conditions; are suffering abuse from crew of other nationalities; have been denied repatriation despite repeated request.

It should be noted that only the 16 Filipino crew members had complained of abandonment (non-payment of wages and withholding of food).

This case is very concerning given the additional circumstances reported by the crew. The shipowner in China and the company which signed the employment agreements, based in Korea, have denied any problem exists.
The POEA has suspended the manning agent in the Philippines until the case is resolved.
