Seafarers have not been paid regularly since October 2019. ITF intervention led to the owner paying wages for November 2019, plus 2 part payment in May/June.

We hereby wish to formally inform you that, with regard to Abandonment ID. 00473 (Vessel Jolly Lizzy- IMO N°7813145), all seafarers have been duly paid and repatriated in accordance with the applicable requirements.
For your reference and further action, please find attached the official proof of settlement of all outstanding payments to the seafarers.
In light of this development, we respectfully request that the necessary steps be taken to ensure that the relevant entry in the ILO abandonment database is duly updated, and that the case be marked as resolved, in accordance with the applicable procedures.

3 December 2020: Togo
Regarding the ship Jolly Lizzy, currently at the Autonomous Port of Lome, it was subjected of protective seizure then to seizure and sale at the request of the sailors for non-payment of wages, and this after several unsuccessful attempts at conciliation between the ship-owner and the sailors on the initiative of the Maritime Affairs Department. Faced with this case of abandonment, the maritime administration assumed its responsibilities towards the sailors on board the ship Jolly Lizzy in accordance with Standard 2.5 of the MLC, to which Togo is a party. The administration covered the charges inherent in COVID-19 test and the repatriation of the four Ghanaian sailors to their country on 18th October 2020.
Two Togolese sailors are currently on board to guard the ship. Legal proceedings in this case are ongoing and seek full payment of the wages of the prejudiced seafarers and other claims on the said vessel.
