Circumstances

1 seafarer committed suicide on board.
12 crew seek to be paid their unpaid 2 months dec and jan and feb days and be repatriated.
At this moment the ship is seeking an urgent supply of drinking water and fuel. The risk of blackout is imminent.

From Ministry of ports, shipping and waterways
I am directed to refer to your email dated 23.02.2021 informing this office about the abandonment vessel having 12 Indian seafarers on board.
2. In this regard, it is sated that the Directorate has taken up the matter with the registered Recruitment & Placement of Seafarers (RPS) Agency/company M/s Global Tankers Pvt. Ltd., in response to which the RPS
company has informed that the vessel has been sold for demolition to M/s Garhoud Trading LLC (Dubai, UAE) vide MOA dated 06.1.2021.
3. The RPS company has also informed that he Provision and Fuel was supplied to the vessel on 05.02.2021.
4. Later on, ITF Inspector vide his email dated 12.02.2021 has informed this office that the vessel has reached Alang Port, India where all the crew has signed off and has been sent to their repectives homes safely.
5. Whereas the issue of Death of an Indian seafarer Mr. Bhupender (ordinary Seaman) on board vessel MT Sea Princess was reported to this office on 30.01.2021. He has reported to have committed suicide in the boiler room of the subject vessel on 28.01.2021 when the vessel was en-routing from Port Sharjah (UAE) to Port Alang (India). The matter has been taken up with the Owners of the vessel regarding settlement of Death Compensation, whose reply is still awaited.

In view of the above, it is requested that the status in the matter may please be confirmed from the source of the complaint and the same may please be upload in the IMO/ILO Database.

The body of the crew member who committed suicide has been repatriated to India. The remaining crew have now received their outstanding wages (more than 2 months) and were repatriated on 12th February 2021. Resolved.

Cook Islands flag state have advised that the vessel is no longer under their registry since 10th January 2021.
