I would like to inform you that we received information from our Embassy in Mexico that Capt of MV Vega Sagittarius conveyed that there is no such abandonment of the vessel, the crew's wages are up to date and they receive sufficient supply of provisions on a monthly basis. Capt conveyed that the company is committed to the welfare of its crew members employed on the ship.

I wish to inform you that our Undersecretary for Migrant Workers' Affairs referred this matter to the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency and the Philippine Embassy in London also requested our Embassy in Mexico which also covers has the Dominican Republic within its jurisdiction, to look into this vessel abandonment case involving unpaid wages of 16 Filipino seafarers.
