The supply of food, water and anything else essential, is currently guaranteed by the shipowner, even if the vessel does not have been sailing for almost a year.
Salaries are not paid (statutory certification is expired).
Requests for repatriation of seafarers during the period of stay in Messina, have not always been granted.
The shipowner is “Medriv Navigation S.A.,Nassau, Bagamas; ark Shipping Co.Ltd 27,Boulevard D'Italie 98000 Monaco Mr.Eric Ravera”, he is currently paying 1000 euros per month to seafarers.
The “Financial Security” is expired.
The maritime local authority has already provided to issue a formal legal warning to the shipowner, in order to guarantee the general interests of the involved and deserving of protection in the present case.
23 April 2021: International Transport Workers' Federation
A report received from the Ukrainian Authorities that 3 citizens of Ukraine - members of the crew of the BELLA are abandoned in the port of Messina and the shipowner - Madriv Navigation S.A. (Nassau, Bahamas) - failed to pay the crew since September 2020. Also informed that the local and port authorities of Messina are aware about this situation and tried to establish contacts with the shipowner but received no response. Given the circumstances the crew requests payment of outstanding contractual wages and repatriation home.
During his earlier communication with the crew, the owner of the ship advised the crew that the ship was advertised for a private sale and that the crew would be paid and repatriated after the ship is sold.
