Circumstances
The Master reported that the crew onboard have not been paid their wages since June 2021 in violation of the Maritime Labour Convention and Liberia Maritime Law.

From Liberian Registry
The Liberian flag Administration would like to report and update you with this abandonment case on the vessel QIAN TAI 1 (IMO: 9531727). The disponent owner informed us that all Chinese crew signed off on October 28, 2021, in Galle. All wages paid in full for August, September, October, including full wages for 21 days for Colombo and 28 days for China’s quarantine period. Seafarers whose are due for repatriation were repatriated, and has considered the issue resolved. Resolved.
1 September 2021: Liberia
The Administration notified the owner of the vessel, Management Company and the financial security provider, the London Steamship Owners' Mutual Insurance Association Ltd.
Upon receipt of the complaint from the Master of the vessel, the Administration immediately communicated same to the vessel’s owner and management company, advising to rectify the issue.
On September 1, 2021, the Administration received response from the management company maintaining that they have asked the owner to pay the crew wages and provided a repatriation plan for their action; however, the owner and disponent owner have not responded as of today’s date.
The Liberian Administration shall provide an update in due course.
