Circumstances
The vessel has been in Montelimar since November 2006 when the engine broke down, since then other deficiencies have kept it in port. Crew complain of physical abuse by the Captain, who also withholds food, wages have not been paid since the crew joined the vessel in October and November last year. The vessel and manning agency, Sea Lane Poland, have a history with the ITF for non-payment of wages and substandard food. The Captain stopped buying food after the ITF inspector visited the vessel on 17 March 2008. The vessel was detained by Port State Control on 30 April 2008.
