21 August 2023: Singapore
My colleagues from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) had spoken to the master onboard Surya Ratna 7 and met the shipowner at MPA’s office on Tuesday 8th August 2023. The vessel’s P&I club, The Shipowners Club, was also alerted of this case and the meeting was attended by one of their appointed surveyors.
As of mid-August, the owner had updated MPA with the following:
• Owner made payment of half of February wages on 4th August 2023. Remaining half was paid on 14th August and both payments have been received by crew.
• Shipowner has confirmed that outstanding wages for the months March till August 2023 shall be paid to the crew latest by 31st August 2023.
• Crew are supplied with provision and bunkers. These are topped up every 2 weeks.
• Crew change will be carried out latest by 31 August 2023, after the crew have received all the outstanding wages.

The shipowner is aware of the severeness on this case by not paying the crew on timely basis and promised to resolve everything latest by 31st August 2023. MPA will continue to monitor the case closely until all crew has received their outstanding wages and repatriated.
