Please see below the information submitted by the Local Maritime Authority in Tarragona on the situation of the Lifestock Carrier ‘DARLA’ (IMO Number 7601073), flag: Comoros, having on board 1 seafarer from India who was abandoned in Tarragona, Spain since 5 October 2023. The insurance provider is Thomas Miller
1. ITF Local Inspector informed Local Maritime Authority in Tarragona ITF they have received a MLC complaint from the Chief Mate of Lifestock Carrier DARLA about non-payment and non-repatriation. The Chief Mate was owed $34,000 by the company and wanted to return home because his father was very ill (unfortunately he passed away).
2. Local Maritime Authority in Tarragona organized a PSC inspection but finally vessel DARLA did not call at Tarragona Port because no berth was available.
3. Local Maritime Authority in Tarragona urged the Agent to contact with the company to pay the outstanding salaries and to arrange for his repatriation. The payment of the outstanding salaries was justified by the company as well as the purchase of a flight ticket leaving Montpellier on 11th of October at 15:30 and arriving in Bombay on Friday 13 October at 00:05h.

Vessel is currently anchored outside of Tarragona port.
Inspection is not possible to verify the situation of the other crew of Syrian nationality. Ch. Officer, which is the complainant, states that they embarked 4-5 months ago and is not aware of the status of the payment of their wages.
