China Maritime Safety Administration has promptly organized personnel to conduct a thorough investigation into the situation of the vessel in question. Below are the findings:
1. Vessel Information:
- Vessel Name: ORIENTAL DRAGON
- Vessel Type: General Cargo Ship
- Flag State: Zanzibar
- IMO Number: 9085091
- Vessel Owner: Shihai Shipping Co Ltd
2. Crew Situation Verification:
China Maritime Safety Administration has investigated the circumstances surrounding the crew's abandonment concerns through onboard inspections and crew interviews. The investigation found that the shipowner has conscientiously fulfilled the requirements of the 2006 Maritime Labor Convention, fulfilled their obligations to arrange and pay for the repatriation of seafarers, pay wages, and provide basic needs of seafarers, including medical care. The wages of seafarers have been paid on time, but the situation of unpaid wages to seafarers was not found. Based on the above findings, it is not recommended to include the ORIENTAL DRAGON vessel in the joint database for abandoned seafarers.
