Circumstances

In August 2008 major engine problems caused the vessel to stop at the above port for repairs. Work ceased due to non-payment by the owner. On 24 December 2008 the owner informed the remaining crew that the company had gone bankrupt, would not pay the outstanding two months wages but would pay for repatriation. Three agreed to leave, one refused to go without payment of his outstanding wages.

MV ¿Rosethorn¿ is laid up in Brunsbüttel, Germany, since August 2008, for more than one year. No repairs carried out
since. The crew member who refused to leave the vessel because of outstanding wages left her already some time ago; there is actually no crew on board to date. It is unknown to the German Government, if the
outstanding wages have been paid by the owner.
