• M/T Cecilia arrived at Algeciras Port in ballast condition on 6 November 2023 without main engine, apparently due to an explosion. Photographs taken by Local Maritime inspectors shown the poor conditions of the M/T Cecilia. Algeciras Pilots also report deficiencies while they were on board.
• ITF representative in Algeciras inform that:
- a crew member was injured as a result of the explosion and was seen by the doctor.
- 8 crew members have not received their wages in the last 4 months.
- the lack of provisions and MCL deficiencies.
• Local Maritime Authority requests in different occasions the ship’s agent to inform about the situation on M/T CECILIA.
• Ship’s agent reports back that:
- The cook has been repatriated.
- 10 crew members remain on board.
- Works are conducting to repair the main engine and Classification Society still need to visit the vessel.
- MLC issues has been completed.
Finally, Local maritime authority requests the ship’s agent to deal with the payment of the salaries again and proceed with an inspection before departure.
