The Korean crew members received US$ 491,780 from the proceeds of the auction. Additionally, the Filipino crew members were paid US$68,867 by the ship management company. Resolved.
16 September 2024: Panama
In response to the labour complaint filed against the vessel “ORIENTAL PEARL VI”, with IMO number 9112246, you will find the latest communications:
1. Through email dated April 9, 2024, the PMA sent the 1st communication addressed to Ship owners, Operators and/or Local Resident Agents, communicating the labour complaint filed against the vessel, and requesting the measures adopted to correct such deficiencies.
2. Through email dated April 16, 2024, Payment receipts provided by the legal representatives of the company are received via email.
3. Through email dated April 17, 2024, The ITF is requested to confirm the payment vouchers provided.
4. Through email dated May 22, 2024, confirmation is received from the ITF of the repatriation of the seafarers and the payment of half of the salaries owed.
5. Through email dated May 22, 2024, ITF informs that the crew has been repatriated, leaving only part of the pending payments.
6. Through email dated June 16, 2024, ITF informs that it will maintain updates based on the news given.
24 May 2024: International Transport Workers' Federation
All Filipino and Korean crew members have already signed off the vessel and have been repatriated to their respective countries (Filipino crew on 3rd April, and Korean crew on 12th April). The Korean crew's owed wages of US$199,373.30, is still pending due to the ongoing auction procedure. Legal representation has been secured for the Korean crew to prioritize their claims over those of other relevant parties.
